Even last night, she was trying to keep herself out of the photo we took... I'm glad we didn't let her.

[ it's a memento now, even if it's moments before disaster ]

We don't need to speculate right now. It's easier with evidence, and going from there... if we've hit a wall with that, then... it's okay to just - miss her.

[ more hugs... he's as always just that little bit surprised, but sinks gratefully into the gesture once he adjusts. affection week pulls a lot of weight, but even without it - it's just kind of nice, and it's hard to pull away from something you haven't really had. ]

I'm glad, too. [ that they got a picture. ] Could I see? I think I'd like to.

[ with his free hand, he'll dig into his pocket and pull out a truly stupid selfie that he took in the bathroom. he's taking it and in the background are anders, shadowheart, hawke, lucas, adolphe, marcoh, richie, claude, charlie, and elysia. charlie is notably doing lil heart fingers with lucas ]

Cute, right? [ and it does make him feel sad, to look at charlie and think about how she's already gone but ] ... I'm a little more used to death than other people but whenever someone's gone... I just wish I got to keep some part of them before they disappeared.

So maybe it's a little morbid... but I'm glad we took this picture.

also this picture is adorable, but extremely sad in the context - it makes the smile on taair's face just as melancholy as he peers at the screen, though the warmth and appreciation is worth it. ]

I'm glad you did, too - it's not morbid at all. [ said softly - at least not to taair. ] It's a precious gift, to be able to so easily record an image. [ because he's a ye olde and like what are photographs. ]

... It is my firm belief that we all deserve a record of our existence. The mark that we've made on the world, on others...though we hold onto these things as tightly as we can, time can corrode our most precious memories, or even erode them entirely. To have physical proof that someone was there, or that something happened - it bolsters our memory, and keeps those important people and moments as close to crystal clear as we can have them.

[ this specific thing is something he is especially passionate about, even and though his heart aches at not being able to spend a little more time with charlie, to hear her voice or laugh together over outfits at the clothing store, the memories stay with fondness in just looking at this silly picture. ]
