[ he is absolutely going to get BOWLED OVER by this hug because he is like the kind of guy who could be knocked over by a particularly stiff breeze - it's all he can do to get his arms up in time to grab on and return it, a surprised laugh coloring his voice. ]
Yves - good morning! Why, you're as lively as the morning sun, aren't you?
[ okay well if HE'S GETTING PICKED UP he kind of squeals out a half delighted, half startled noise and holds on. extremely disney princess vibes.
and then wobbles as a little as he's put back down, looking ruffled but no less happy for it. that was fun... ]
So noted! Your joy is infectious, friend. [ it's like the sun is on this beach. he looks past yves for a moment, out at the waves, and then back at him. ] This is my first time ever seeing one in person - but I think I'd be inclined to agree. It's lovely.
[ there's a beat here that is awkward, though it is mostly the awkwardness of perhaps someone who has not interacted with people enough to know how to react to things like a normal person
anyway, ]
-- It is! It is. I don't know what I expected the sand to feel like, but - it's nice! And I thought I might try to wade into the water a bit, too. [ soon, maybe. he brings a hand up to his forehead, peering outwards. ]
That far off horizon - it's like the sky, too. And the color is just as wonderful... It almost feels unreal.
I...think I can swim. I'm actually not sure... I may have learned, once upon a time, but it was many eons ago, and I don't remember.
[ many eons ago he says. he is like almost 30 he is not 300. but either way, he brightens at the idea too, nodding - though he stops to remove the holster at his waist before anything because his book is in there. ]
It sounds as if you're an expert, so I think - what better time for a new experience than with an expert, yes? Let's!
[ help. this is so funny yves will just laugh a little bit and double-check his own person to make sure that there's nothing on him? though he'll actually pull out his... egg.... from his pocket to put it with taair's holster ]
It'd be bad if it floated out to sea...
[ but then he'll go to take taair's hand and start wading out toward the ocean! ]
Let's go? It might be a little cold when we first step in - but you'll get used to it!
[ NOT THE EGG he looks very fond at this because that's sweet. let him go and adjust his holster a bit so it cushions the egg nicely, too. there! ]
Well, now it has a bedtime story. [ and with that, he will let yves take his hand and bring him over to the water. there's no fear or anything on his face - it's closer to exhilaration, like a child standing in a candy store, waiting to be told he can take a snack - as he's led forward. ]
Boldly, let's. [ and that excitement on his face grows and grows as he gets closer - making a soft noise of surprise at the texture of the wet stand, first, and then when the water touches his bare ankles, taair yelps, but the noise is joyful, surprised as the wave washes around his feet. ] Oh-! Cold, it is certainly cold!
[ this is so funny and cute. yves just watches along with a grin on his lips, holding onto taair's hand securely even as they head further along into the ocean. he won't take them too far, probably not more than about shin height, but that's still enough to enjoy the rush of the ocean ]
Right? What'd I say? But it's refreshing, right? Cool against the heat!
[ this is!!! the best!!! he laughs, absolutely thrilled at the sensations, and bends down to brush his fingers through the surf when a wave comes crashing in, just to feel it. it's all goosebumps and butterflies from the sheer wonder of just being able to feel it. to finally experience something he read about.
it's not the iria river, it's not waverun city, but it is something taair never thought he'd actually get to have, and for a moment, it feels unbelievably good to be free. it is in moments like this, that this place truly does feel like paradise. ]
It's wonderful. [ there's a breathlessness to the last word, as he straightens again. the back of his stupid blue cloak fabric is getting wet, but he doesn't care, lifting his free hand to his brow to peer out at the horizon. ]

You think? That's a pretty nice analogy.
I guess I'm just excited. I love the beach!

[ just a sweet and sincere lil compliment! ]
But it really is fun out here, right? I could spend hours at the beach. The ocean's just so big - it makes everything else feel small.

he will let taair move on.... except he'll also just hold a hand out when he mentions wading into the water ]
Wanna go together? I've got you if you can't swim. I can teach you later, if you want.
It's nice, to get to splash around in the ocean like you're a part of it for a bit.
