chrono arrives having changed into a loose black shirt and khakis which i will find a screencap of later. taair's elaborate outfit gives him pause, suddenly feeling extremely underdressed, but. okay. it's fine.
he smiles a little weakly and puts his own box of Stuff on the other bed. ]
Welcome, welcome! Oh - please, just Taair is perfectly fine.
[ there's a little laugh, embarrassed at the title - he reaches out and comes to get the door, moving it so chrono can get any of his stuff in without having to mess with the door. ]
It seems as if we're to share lodgings. How nice, isn't it?
[ he sounds like, delighted. ] If you have, I hope you will teach me - I'll do my best to be a courteous one, at the very least. If there's anything I can do for you, or anything I ought to do that perhaps I am not doing, please do not hesitate to share with me, yes? I'll do my best.
[ taair looks over at the swaddled egg - it makes him smile a little further, and he settles back down on his bed, propping his chin in his hand. ]
Are you settling in alright so far? There's quite a bit to look at right now, isn't there?
Are you really? How wonderful. Perhaps you could show me, sometime? I would like to learn.
[ cooking... that is so far out of reach for one baby bird. he looks pleased at the idea, though. ]
We've quite a few cooks in the kitchen! I hope that means we will all be able to sample each other's food, too... I feel as though a 'whole new world' barely even begins to cover where we've all found ourselves.
Sure, be happy to teach you some basics. It's not so hard to learn.
[ he fishes his squishmallow and deck out of the box next, propping the cards on a side table and the squishmallow on his chest as he lies back on the bed. ]
You got that right. There's really all kinds, here. It'd be cooler if thinkin' about it too much didn't make my head hurt.
[ genuinely so pleased about the idea. he looks on curiously when he unpacks his cards, head tilting slightly to the side... but as he flops back, chrono's comment has him huff a little bit of a laugh. ]
I think that's where you and I may differ, if only because thinking about it is my favorite thing to do, so far - to learn that people have come from not just other countries, but from other worlds, with entirely different frameworks of living... it's a historian's dream.
Ah... are you sure? I will do my best not to ramble, or at least not to subject you to a lecture. [ he says, teasing. cyrus he is not. ] - but, my homeland is a place called the Kingdom of Iria, located centrally in the continent of Rodinia. It's a beautiful place - lush with natural resources, both in ores and in its rivers and forests, and has become a hubbub for trade in the past few years.
[ ah… he dips his head in a nod, smile a little sad. ]
Yes. The history of our nation is war-torn, to say the least. Still… there are actors there who are fighting every day for peace. So- hopefully, that war will end, sometime soon.
Oh! Well, yes! Very well deduced, though I am not all that much for it. It was something of a requirement of my schooling to learn the healing arts, so I dabble here and there in that and a few other kinds of magic, but it's not in the way that's particularly useful on a battlefield.
Yeah. I'm from Earth, which doesn't have anythin' in the way of magic. But there's another planet called Cray that had a connection to ours, and that planet had magic as well as more advanced technology and stuff.
[ frowns as he thinks about it. ]
Most people don't know about it. People from each planet couldn't visit the other aside from some really weird cases, but I managed to make a couple friends from there.

he sets the box down. in it is the deep purple egg, swathed in the crochet item which i have finally decided is a very, very long red scarf. ]
Yeah. You ever had a roommate before?

[ gives a half-wave, half-salute... thing, and takes a similar seat on his own bed. cushy. ]
As much as it's possible to settle, yeah. There's a kitchen, which is cool. I'm a pretty good cook, so if you're cravin' a meal, I can give it a shot.

See, I'd agree, but I've got like... a processing limit for this kinda thing before every other bit of insane stuff just slides off.
[ he rolls his head to the side and opens his eyes again to look at taair curiously, though. ]
A historian, though? Your job?
no subject
[ taair reaches for his own things, and pulls out the holstered book, patting a hand against it. ]
But, my very favorite one, nonetheless. I've been studying the history of my country for years.
no subject
anyway. chrono hums in understanding, eyeing the book. ]
Pretty cool hobby. Where're you from? I can fit in that bit of info, promise.
