... no one's struck twice in a week, before. But we haven't had three like this before either. It really is too early to tell.

[ ...he reaches out, touches taair's arm. it's difficult, to see him so heavily burdened, after the joy on his face earlier in the week as they explored together.

he's reminded painfully of mamoru back home - someone so brilliantly kind that the cruelty of the world bore down on them more than they allowed anyone to see, especially as adults who bore the responsibilities of age, as well. ]


You know I'm no good at having faith in this whole process, but... I wanna have faith in us to get through it, anyway. To see everyone again. Maybe that's enough?

[ it warms his heart in turn, to see that restored to taair's face, even if it's through the shadows of the morning. serving almost as a concentration of what he then describes.

a light in the darkness. their own path to walk towards. maybe despite his own insistence otherwise, he is naïve after all, to trust anything at this point. and yet ]


...yeah. If there's enough of us believing in the possibility of that future, it can come true. [ he smiles, sad at the corners, but heartfelt. ] Something I learned a while ago. It got me through things before, so we can hold onto it now.
