his emotions go !! excitedly, even in the midst of all that worry, because as a certified Talks To Animals Guy, he will absolutely stop to look at the little bunny. after a moment, he drops down to one knee to look at him, expression softening into warmth. ]
Why hello to you too, little one. [ and then, lifting back up to lucas. ] Does your companion have a name...?
[THE BUNNY HEALS SO MANY HEARTS. Taair can pick up on bnuuy emotionshare... there is a faint background of trauma but it is also curious and interested as it peers at Taair's face that is now closer to its level.]
--His name is Samura, and he says he likes the color of your hair.
[ noooo cute.... the bunny should not have trauma. taair matches its emotions pretty much immediately - a flicker of curiosity, and then a soft warmth. baby loves animals. ]
Samura... why, thank you - I like the color of your fur, too. [ ehehe. ] ... How lovely, to return with a new friend.
His vibes are still atrocious but watching this interaction does warm his heart.]
He says thank you. [In fact, the rabbit appears to be preening a little. Yes good compliment his fur, it is lovely fur.] ...I'm just glad that we were able to get him out alive.
[ weh. there's a soft pulse of emotion - sympathy and empathy alike. i'm glad you made it out alive, he does not say, but the intention is there... though that means no less for the bunny.
he reaches a fingertip out to let samura sniff, and if allowed will give him the tiniest, gentlest pets. someone very used to soft baby animals. ]
I am, too. [ genuinely. ] ... Do you want to talk about what happened, Lucas...? If not, I'm happy to keep your mind off of it, too.
[He's grateful for the sentiment, and it's a feeling that emerges above the rancid tangle, at least.
The rabbit, meanwhile, enjoys being gently pet very much. Yes good. He is so spoiled and he would like many more pets please. Those are the vibes.]
...I-- really shouldn't be staying overly-long here. Ah... But - you'll want to speak to Maomao. I didn't see her for very long, but I believe dear Neverah was with us for a moment. It's hard to say with certainty, though. Much that we experienced wasn't as it seemed.
[ i'm flying to seattle so i can fight eli in a costco parking lot
ah. both the first part, that sensation of not wanting to stay is one confusing, slightly worried smack, and then the mention of neverah is like a punch in the gut. it's been weeks, but it never gets any easier. ]
I... see. [ there's a flicker of something soft and pained, but it's more like grief than anything else, longing, and he shakes his head, resuming to gently petting the bunny. ]
... It was much the same on mine, as well - illusions, strange lives I thought were my own. I came away with it with a few worthwhile new expertises, but... [ yay for combat medic skill gain but also THE TRAUMA ] ...It helped me often to focus on my environment in the days that passed, and try to identify things that I could touch, see, smell, hear, and taste. The small things to stay grounded.
I don't know if it would help you too, but... if there's anything I can do to, I'm happy to, Lucas.
It really never gets easier though, does it. Shit's rough and wild! But at least he can pet this bunny, which is a little confused over the glumness in the room, but seems happy enough to receive these pets.]
Worthwhile new experiences... [He doesn't think he can say the same about his own venture, and he wonders if maybe Taair is just forcing himself to view his own in that way so that he doesn't die over the trauma of it all. He will not ask, though.]
...You're very kind, Taair. Thank you. I'll keep that in mind and try it for myself... A bit of grounding is good now and then regardless, I think.
Some, at least. All the time I spent as a medic has been invaluable, here. [ with a small smile, but there's a brittleness to it that suggests perhaps quite a bit of hidden trauma in as much as it suggests that taair is the sort who must find the silver lining in all things. ]
Of course... it's the least I can do. And... if you would like to talk about it at all - you have afforded a listening ear to me so many times, and I'd be more than happy to do the same. I worry for you and your well being as always...
[THIS MAN IS JUST OUT HERE TRYING TO POSITIVE THOUGHTS HIS WAY THROUGH THE TRAUMA valid strategy though honestly. He is doing his best.]
Ah... Unfortunately, I could see that being true very easily. [Though the vibes and the small smile that follow are more wry than anything, and sympathetic for the suffering he must have gone through. Taair and Jiaoqiu with their matching battle medic suffering...
As for the rest, though, there's a little pulse of gratitude, and something faintly uncomfortable. He truly hates being in a position where other people feel they have to support him, even if he appreciates that he has people willing to do that for him at all.]
I should hope I don't worry you overly-much or often. [A little attempt at levity.] ...But thank you. Really, it's just-- more of the same, I would assume.

—He says hello. [Thanks sir. But he'll offer a little smile at that! And then shake his head.]
The pain still hasn't set in yet, so I'm still fine for now. But thank you.
