[ you thought it would be the church but no it is THE STORE!!!!
aka lucas can find taair, no longer sexy, perusing the convenience store shelves with a look of utter curiosity on his face. when he hears the door open, he glances over his shoulder and smiles, brightly, immediately bowing his head. ]
[NO LONGER SEXY. It's okay, Lucas is also no longer sexy, moving into the store with the quiet confidence of someone who has no idea where they are but is happy to be there regardless.
His expression also brightens on seeing Taair, though!]
Oh! Good day to you, as well, my dear. Whatever is this place?
[RELIGION IS EVERYWHERE FOR THOSE WITH EYES THAT SEE...
Or rather, whenever Taair enters the cloud room during his explorations, he'll step into... a church! ANOTHER ONE. This one is slightly different, though; it lacks the cute axolotls, and since the light streaming through the windows appears to be moonlight, it gives the building a bit of a cold vibe in spite of its overall welcoming energy.
Lucas is also here! He stands by the altar, curiously peeking at some items laid out on it. There's an open bible, a crown of flowers, and a silken bag that appears to have something inside. He looks up when he's joined by someone else, smiling pleasantly.]
taair is doing ALL the exploring which means when he sees the cloud room, it actually - gives him a bit of a start? enough that he has to shake his head and blink a few times, because it feels so violently familiar that he thinks he's walked somewhere else entirely. ]
...Oh. [ lucas feels like he fits in here and somehow doesn't all at once, and it's enough to shake him out of it - taair shakes his head, and a smile crosses his face again, kindhearted as ever. ] Quite a bit, there's much to see...what... is this?
anyway NO I AM KIDDING it's fine. man. taair is standing at the very edge of the boardwalk, his arms behind his back, hands clasped together as he looks outwards at the beach - clearly lost in thought. when he hears footsteps, though, he glances backwards... and despite the situation, he has a soft smile for lucas in greeting, though it is sad. ]
Lucas... [ how do you even start beyond god damn things really do be happening ]
So much is truly happening, though. Lucas looks faintly troubled too, and also lost in thought, but he'll offer a reflexive smile when he spots Taair's. It doesn't last very long, though, but he'll approach regardless and just kind of glance out toward the water.]
[ i lied about the void, taair is actually... in the garden! he's sitting on a blanket, looking up at the stars.
also there's a seagull in his lap. please don't ask. or do. it's chillin. he looks up when he hears lucas, though, and gives him a soft, tired smile. ]
if you look up in the library, among the shelves, what do you see? books. books, on books, on books, a person, books - well, wait, one of those things doesn't fit in here.
that person would be taair, sporting a pair of fluffy blue wings at his back that are currently spread out wide as he precariously balances one foot on one shelf, and another on the one below, as if in mid climb. he is nearly within arms reach of the top shelf, but as he stretches up... the shelf wobbles.
it is around the time as lucas comes by that his foot slips - he makes a startled noise, and though he grabs onto the shelf to keep from toppling over with it, the book he was very carefully trying not to knock over does slide free of its place and begin falling down. ]
NOT THE WAY I CAME OT START A PC HERE AND SAW THAT I FUCKING MISSED THIS NOOOOOOOOO WHAT THE HELL well at least u were dying on cyoa anyway GRABS THIS TO RETURN TO LATER
[HE'LL SURELY HEAR ABOUT WHATEVER THE HELL IS HAPPENING AT SOME POINT so he will also be one of the ten billion people beelining for their injured lads... Hopefully Taair is RESTING AT THE MOMENT, but wherever he is, Lucas will approach with a bag over his arm. He truly knows so little about injury treatment for people with normalass bodies and figures their actual healers are already well on this shit, but he too wishes to help...
That said, he'll pause for a second to get a brief grasp on the situation, just kind of scanning him in a quick once-over to check for the worst of things.]
[ he is definitely resting do not worry. he is very fragile.
he's also just kind of looking out the window when lucas comes in! the good thing is he seems pretty ok, or at least, he's bandaged up.... hard to tell.
he doesn't look over until his name is called - though, once he does, he just smiles, soft, and dips his head. ]
[HE'S PLONKIN HIS ASS AT THE BEACH FOR MOST OF TODAY but also he will be back at the manor at least once, so you better be in your bed sir...... YOU BETTER BE RESTING........... WHEREMST HE.]
no he actually is also... out at the beach. where he should not be. however he is at least sitting down, leaning against the soundstage and looking out at the sea.
when he spots lucas, his heart just constricts in worry and sympathy, and, of course, he calls out: ] Lucas...
taair is not actually at ground level. like the bird he is, he is sitting today at the edge of the lighthouse lookout area, curled up in a ball with a blanket over his shoulders, chin perched on his knees - playing with something absently between his fingers.
he doesn't seem particularly miserable, but especially pensive, instead - and he's happy to have company, so if he sees lucas - either on the beach or coming up to the lighthouse, he gets a small, warm smile and a little wave in greeting. ]
[A BIRD... It's so funny... Lucas is walking along the shore, but he'll move over toward the lighthouse when he catches the wave. Not going inside just yet - just standing on the ground below the edge, looking up like he's here to steal Rapunzel.]
A better vantage point up there, my dear? Though I really do wonder if you should be climbing stairs right now...
taair is sitting out somewhere after the announcement, his head down, sketching something on a sheet of white paper. though, when he realizes he has company, he glances up and offers a small smile. ]
Only one this time, at least... as awful as that is to say. [ HIS FRIEND ] It is hard to say good day, but... good day, Lucas. Are you alright?
Lucas will make his way over, though, moving to sit beside Taair as he works, giving the paper a glance before focusing on Taair himself. There's a small quirk of a thin smile.]
I do understand it. [The way Lucas woke up to this news and was also like "oh shit we're back to one" about it. But there's a lil nod!]
I am, yes. Knowing what's coming hardly makes it easier, but it does change things... And you, my dear? Are you holding up well?
[LUCAS WILL BE LOOKING FOR THIS LIL FUCKING GUY!!!!! Starting at the lighthouse but he is dogged and will search for a while, though it'll be later in the night.]
when lucas gets over to the lighthouse, he will find, sure enough - there's taair! he's wrapped up in a blanket, chin on his knees, just staring out into the horizon. everything is bad ]
[NOT THIS FUCKING CAGED BIRD BASS BOOSTED MEMORY I HATE IT HERE MOM COME PICK ME UP
Well. That's a lot! That is so much! My god! Some of his assumptions were so right and some of his assumptions were so wrong! And he's thinking back on that execution and the way in which this woman had appeared, had used Taair even then and there, even after his own death, even within the sanctuary that Heaven is supposed to provide, and he feels a stirring of something close to anger in the depths of his heart, because what cruelty. What cruelty, to make it to paradise only to suffer so much. What cruelty to be given such a kind and gentle hand, only to find that the hand is only gentle to keep you placated and under control.
Why do the children suffer so. A thought that's been brought to his mind time and time again. Why are the worlds in which they inhabit such cruel places, and why do the children always suffer for it?
As the memory begins to loop again, Lucas turns to face Taair, and there is a crease of something deeply sorrowful and sympathetic in his expression. He doesn't say anything right away, but he does take a few steps closer, reaching out to lightly touch his arm if allowed. Then, after a few seconds of silence:]
...The heart that you possess is both pure and true, dear Taair. It's an admirable strength. A beautiful thing to see.
[To learn of so many horrible truths and immediately turn that and years of painful isolation into a strength to be used to help others? Lucas believes it well worth a God's divine blessing.]
But really, he was very fond of both of them, so this sucks! He'll move to sit by Taair, glancing briefly at the sketchbook but mostly focused on him.]
The same as ever, I suppose. Loss is always difficult. ...And you?
[HERE THEY ARE... IN FRONT OF THE HEDGE MAZE. Lucas isn't entering just yet, instead leaning back and peering up. The vibes are mostly just curious; his emotional spread in general is pretty mild. He'll wave once he spots Taair, though!]
Hello, dear. I wonder if this maze has any unfriendly guests in it like the other one...
[ you know who is giving off sheer curiosity vibes, like radiating curiosity -that would be taair. curiosity and delight, and whatever emotion it is that clearly reads "i am about to go get into some trouble" ]
Well. There's only one way to find out, isn't there? [ right? right? he comes right up to lucas and smiles at him, setting a hand on his arm gently in greeting. ] What do you think? Shall we?
[ ha ha ha ha... yay..... taair is at the tavern after all of that, sitting at a table with a glass of wine... when he spots lucas he gives him a smile though. warm, even though his vibes are just. tired and sad. ]
Lucas...how are you feeling? [ and if samura is there he is also getting a little greeting. ]
[Samura is here!! He is taking his infant child to the tavern it's fine. The bunny can enjoy some water while his father tanks 10 bottles of wine. He'll move over though, sliding into a chair with relatively mellow vibes. Some faint sadness and tiredness as well, but it's fine. They're all fine.]
About as one could expect, I suppose. I hope you don't mind if I join you... Are you holding up alright, yourself?
[WE ARE IN ITALY AMEN. Lucas is just kind of hanging out by the edge of the canal and staring off toward the sky but his attention is grabbed by Taair pretty easily, and he lets himself be led along without hassle. The nerdery... He can sense it.]
Oh? What's inside of this, my dear? It couldn't be more books, surely...
[They probably do not have museums in Arpechele so this is going to be WILD.]
[WELL. Old habits die hard. Lucas can be found at the church! He's sitting near the front with his hands clasped together in prayer, though he'll turn to look once he hears someone else enter.]
Oh— Taair, dear, hello. At least this part of Heaven remains intact...
taair is up at the lighthouse on this final day, sitting with his arms on the railing and staring out into the ocean. his emotions are kind of a mess even from a distance - there's this awful melancholy, this deep, deep sadness, curled in with fear and on top of that, resignation. that floats over his shoulders like a cloud, but his expression is passive, thoughtful.
when he hears footsteps he glances over, though, and smiles, and all that vanishes. ]
