[ BELATEDLY YEAH THE PARALLELS!!!! THEY'RE SO REAL!!!!!!! CLENCHES FIST ]
Mm...
[ he thinks about it, for a long moment - that's a question he's not really been asked. one hand comes to his chin. and, from a geopolitical standpoint... ]
...I think Princess Inanna would make a fine ruler, perhaps better than either of her brothers before her could have been. She's already shown such strength and dedication to Iria, and her love for the people is unparalleled. She was the people's princess until the Waverun incident - another terribly long story - and I think that though she would have to earn their trust, I think if there is anyone who could earn it, it would be her. Even if the responsibility could be crushing, I think... if she had the right advisors, and the right resources, then she could set Iria into a golden age of prosperity.
The problem is the lack of resources, though - the Papal States are very strong, and it would require an immense amount of capital to fight off their advances. I think... even were I not involved, the war is the better option - better yet if we could ally with the Union against the aggression of the States, which could help bolster the military strength of our nation and lessen potential casualties. A fair alliance would be difficult to secure, but if the leader of Convallaria could help, he has a wide breadth of connections. The States need to be contained, or else they will continue to make reaches for power throughout the entire continent.
[ ah. there's the crux of it. all that historical and political theory, and he never mentioned himself once.
taair looks down at his hands, and... he smiles, a little. ]
...That's easy. In the ideal scenario, I'd have nothing to do with the throne at all.
I'd travel throughout Iria, collecting every scrap of information I could find. Every legend, every story. I'd interview thousands of people, and explore every ancient ruin - visit the tallest mountains in Vlder, and lay out on the docks at Waverun City. I'd spend my days adventuring and learning the history of my country, so I could share it with others. Making friends, spending warm nights around a bonfire sharing stories and drinks and laughter...
And then, of course: I'd finish my book. It's a simple dream, but... that would be my perfect life.
... I want to travel the world, seeing places I could only read about in books, and meeting people with different perspectives. And I wish to use what power I have to protect not only my people, but all people.
Armed with knowledge, I want to help the mustari forge a future where we can thrive... not in isolation, but as part of a more just and peaceful world.
[ weh.... god, the way his whole expression goes soft and fond at this, immediately - because eupha just gets it. she gets it, thinks the same way he does, and taair can't help himself, clasping his hands together near his chest. ]
... What a wonderful dream. [ one just like his own. ] Miss Eupha - I am sure if anyone could bring such a thing, I know it would be you.

I think that is a wonderful dream. In many ways, I think it's very similar to my own.
