I think those two things can exist in tandem.

People are so complex. There are shades of good and bad in all of us, and... perhaps our character cannot, and ought not, be determined on one event alone. No matter the devastation that event causes.

... I think so, as well.

Despite the tragedy, I think that I will still remember him for his kindness, above all else.
