Well... the continent of Rodinia is surrounded by the ocean, but it is very large, and covers a wide variety of terrain. I myself have lived my life inland, mostly in a place called Lightgloam City, or the Grand Sanctuary.
[ he sets a hand on his little book holster, looking out at the ocean. ]
The climate varies from place to place - in the south there is a desert, while in the north, a rugged mountain range. And even further north than that, an entire society of peoples live so deeply in the mountains that they've learned to master the ice and snow.
But, I've truly seen very little of it - I can only report what I know from books and the tales of others.
As do I! Though, if what Basilio says is correct, I think your endurance for the heat might be just as impressive.
[ he says with a little laugh, lifting a hand to fan himself. he is but a little guy and would probably die on eht ria.
the question about lightgloam city gives him pause, and taair falls silent for a moment. ]
It is...austere. [ maybe a strange description for a city. ] But... majestic, I suppose. The city is also known as the Grand Sanctuary, as it is the seat of the Light of Sanctuary, the largest religion on the continent, and houses the Hierophant as well as one of the Bishops.
[ he turns his head to eupha and gives her a slight smile. ] But, there are many people who live there as well - kind, ordinary people. It is a city that is well protected, too.
he smiles a little to himself when she does, because it's familiar, but. ]
The city itself is nice, but I do think it pales in comparison to the beauty of Iria, the neighboring Kingdom. But - perhaps I could sketch it for you sometime, if you'd like to see.
[ as for the light of sanctuary!! taair nods to that too, more thoughtful. ] It is, though I am not so devout as to be a member of the clergy - just a practitioner.
Your prayers had been answered, earlier, you said? What or whom were you praying to?
I regularly pray to the Dragon God, though I did offer some to the god of this land, too. Some words of gratitude for welcoming me to this place, and of hope for seeing my home and my brother again.
It sounds as if that opportunity will be afforded to us, at least. I have a feeling you are the type of person to work hard - and what a story you will have to tell when you return.
[ our redemption which definitely will not involve murder ]
The Dragon God... I've only ever read of dragons in storybooks. The wonders of other worlds never cease to amaze.
No... no, nothing like that. We don't really have much in the way of 'mythical creatures' as the others do... just wolves, and - well, a few other things, but they're not quite the same.

I've seen just a brief glimpse of life in the mountains, myself. I have to admire the resilience of people who live in such cold conditions...
What is your city like?

How I wish that I could see it.
This Light of Sanctuary, is it a religion that you also practice?

Have you ever... seen one? In person.

[ a bit of a pause there. reflective. ]
I have met my god face-to-face.

...Oh! Now that is a rarity... [ the pause is not lost on him, though. ] What was that like, Miss Eupha?

In many ways... terrifying, perhaps?
