taair walks softly, but he's not a very loud person in general - he comes up behind the bench when he sees laurence. very, very softly clears his throat, and then sets his hand gently between his shoulders, on his back. ]

[ his head turns, just enough to acknowledge him without speaking just yet. it's a moment before he does. ]

What are we supposed to do now?

...I wish that I knew. [ taair admits, quietly - he's not sure, either. ] I'm not sure that anyone truly does, short of the usual - that we must keep going, despite.

Except now we know there's still a murderer walking around with the rest of us, and they can do it again next week, if they want.

[ he sighs. ]

...I know. And... I doubt we will come to know who that person is until it is too late. [ he won't sugarcoat it - that sucks! it sucks a lot.

with that, he comes over and sits beside him, folding his hands in his lap and looking out past the gazebo. ]

It leaves us with little closure for Zhongli, too. [ ... ] Things are dire.

And they said it'll just get worse if whoever is left is afflicted, too. Next week might be even harder if that's true.

[ and that scares him a lot. zhongli's murder was already so horribly brutal. ]

[ yeah. that's been weighing heavy on taair, too - he nods a little, and takes a moment to close his eyes. steady, steady. ]

We will have to see what tomorrow brings. All we can do now is take things bit by bit - one day at a time. [ a funny thing to say from a historian, but it's true. the tiny day by day is what leads to a larger picture. ]

...It is one of those moments where I wish that I was able to talk with Zhongli. He always helped bring such clarity to my thoughts, at the end of these days. Even last week, when things were at their lowest.

[ laurence chokes out a bitter laugh. ]

[ and elysia was always there to lift them up. isn't that why it hurts so badly? to lose two solid supports that they'd all come to rely on so much? they were always so steady.
