[ hello!!! out in the gazebo area, laurence can find taair, who is no longer sexy, sitting in the grass. he's got a big red book open in his lap, and appears to be writing something down in it, lifting his head every now and then to just inhale and enjoy his surroundings, and then resume writing.
and!! if he doesn't immediately come run over, he might hear him murmuring quietly to.... someone? something? loud enough to be heard, though. ]
This is very nice, isn't it? It was beginning to feel as claustrophobic as before, but - it's already gotten a bit better, hasn't it, my friend...?
[ on this fine heavenly monday, laurence can find taair at the beach! he's sitting in the sand, and perhaps of more interest, he has like.
four seagulls on him. they seem to mostly just be vibing? there's one sitting on his arm, and he's petting it with his free hand. there's another perched on his lap, and one on his shoulder, grooming at his hair. ]
[ it's not that he's looking for taair - he just happens to be jogging on the boardwalk like the jock he is when he hears this and slows down to peer out at the beach.
[ oh my sweet boy. taair is walking around after all of that - when laurence calls out, he immediately turns and comes to him, dipping his head in a nod. ]
Yes - he should be alright. [ he sounds just as relieved, and definitely tired. ] With much rest, and... some time. Would that I could have done more, but... without any magical skills, bandages are all we can provide.
[ i don't know what you expect out of taair because he is, of course, in the library. more accurately, he's standing in the library's massive history section, hand to his heart. though... it's a little hard to tell it's immediately him from behind, if only because there's a pair of blue wings coming out of his back, and they are puffed up to maximum capacity.
the library is very quiet. but laurence who wandered in might hear something. ]
[ OKAY SO LIKE he's going to give them some time to get taken care of because laurence knows he's useless, but he's definitely going to come find taair?? buddy?? ]
taair is in bed! he's even sitting up, propped up against pillows with his hands in his lap - looking out of the window, and in comfier clothes. he doesn't say anything until addressed, and when he does, he glances up, and dips his head in a small, polite nod. ]
Laurence... hello. [ his voice sounds a little raw and scratchy, but. ] There's no need to be so worried... I'm fine.
[ the arm is still with him as laurence wanders restlessly, balanced precariously on his shoulders to helpfully pull at the vines around his neck. he pauses. ]
Mr. Taair. [ voice still hoarse. ] Are you sure you don't need to rest after... all that?
[ baby. taair is... actually kind of high up at the moment - we're going to the beach area in your wandering, because he's up at the top part of the lighthouse, sitting curled up with his chin on his knees, a blanket pulled over his lap. he looks down, when he spots laurence, hears his hoarse voice, and his heart aches. ]
Oh, Laurence... [ his poor voice. ] I do. But - I think I have found a place to perch where I want to be.
Would you like to join me for a little while? I could use the company.
taair appears to be normal. or at least...his normal...? hard to say. either way! he's in the brand new garden area, sitting by the koi pond with a teapot and a couple of cups of tea. four of them actually.
one for taair... one for laurence... and two tiny ones for the chaos. we are Hanging Out today ]
I've never served tea before myself. I hope it tastes alright - do you have any preferences for it, Laurence?
[ laurence also looks perfectly normal! penny is with him and his chao today, hanging onto a bunch of flowers too random in color to be a proper bouquet.
but he's happy to sit with taair, though the koi pond still draws his eye out of sheer novelty. ]
Not too strong... I'm still not that used to the taste. It's probably fine how you made it.
[ taair is sitting out somewhere after the announcement, his head down, sketching something on a sheet of white paper. though, when he realizes he has company, he glances up and offers a small smile, immediately upon recognition. ]
he is in the hospital! he's sitting on a bed with an icepack on his head, dressed in comfier clothes. and when he sees laurence - of course he has a smile for him. soft, tired. ]
Hello, Laurence. [ ... ] I won't lie, I have been better - but I think I could be far worse off, too.
How are you? Would you like to come sit, for a little while?
[ taair may find him shortly after they've awoken, holding his phone with a vice grip as he reads the update, rereads, and rereads it again, expression a mix of disbelief and horror. ]
yeah. that. yeah, that checks out - taair's not far either, and it takes him a long moment to swallow down his own hurt at the names, to try and force himself to proper functioning. zhongli and elysia both were dear, dear friends, and to see the twin names together is... awful. his head turns, and the first person he sees is laurence.
taair takes a second, and then makes his way over - kneeling down beside him, and setting a gentle hand on his shoulder. ]
[ he'll be in the gazebo of the neighborhood garden by the church after trial. one foot is propped up on the bench, his arms wrapped around the knee and chin resting on his arm. he's not crying, but he looks absolutely miserable. ]
taair walks softly, but he's not a very loud person in general - he comes up behind the bench when he sees laurence. very, very softly clears his throat, and then sets his hand gently between his shoulders, on his back. ]
well, this is. familiar. but it's like, nice familiar because it is so weird and made of candy... ]
... I suppose it would be extremely impolite to taste-test the furniture.
[ he says to laurence while they're standing in the palace lobby. this is a joke - his emotions are wafting somewhere between amused and curious, but there's also something a little bittersweet, underneath. ]
[ today taair is in the hospital! it's friday, which means he's currently helping to restock some of the bandages and reorganize the medical supplies now that post cyoa chaos is over. he glances over his shoulder when he hears footsteps, and - though his emotions are focused and the usual grim sadness that comes with a friday, there's an unmistakable bloom of warmth at the sight of a dear friend. ]
Laurence - hello, my friend. [ a soft smile to match that sincerity. ] How are you holding up, today?
[ a nod in acknowledgment from his little cloud of unease and dread for tomorrow. ]
...Better than last week. [ it's still awful, but he wasn't as close to either of them as zhongli. he's functional today, at least. ] Do you need help with anything?
[ honestly at this point he probably is just in taair and chrono's room, taking a minute to try and breathe after the whirlwind that was today. the vibes are so, so bad. ]
I knew it. I something was wrong yesterday when he said-- something about fighting skeletons. Who does that on a Friday?!
[ yeah! yeah. he's actually moving some things around in the room - pillows and blankets. setting up a comfortable place to sleep. his emotions are calm overlayed over... worry and trepidation, something resigned, something sad. ]
...mn. [ the noise is quiet, agreeing. ] I had hoped I was wrong, but... I had a suspicion.
[ terrible!!! the vibes are bad. at some point he comes across a little bag of bone shards, and his emotions do a terrible, sad twist, and he throws them away. ]
I'm sorry, Laurence. I know it does not do much beyond words, but... even still.
[ on this fine and no longer embarrassing day in the italy car, taair is sitting by a beautiful fountain! he's looking at some pamphlet, and when he looks up from it and spots laurence, a smile spreads across his face, immediately. ]
[ okay well listen laurence is the very first person taair is coming to find after all of that because he remembers!!! the last time!!!! and this time they're not even in the same curfew location!!! ]
[ laurence is once again spending the night in their room i'm sorry for your new roommate. he's on the floor in the blanket nest, staring at the ceiling. ]
Maybe I'll order some extra pillows since we lost Miku.
[ it's the strangest thing. you're asleep, and your subconscious drifts.
you find yourself in a beautiful room, (other vibe pics: 1, 2) though these images only barely begins to cover it.
the room itself is round, with ceilings that seem to stretch onto eternity - the floors are marble, the walls painted a beautiful, crisp white, the covers of the bed you're currently settled on thick and warm. there's a large bookshelf and a clearly well used desk - stacked and stacked with even more books, scrolls of paper rolled up and awaiting inspection, maps pinned to the wall near the desk. a quill and ink jar await your attention.
one wall seems to have paintings on it of stars: though upon closer inspection, it is a meticulously captured star chart, with tiny captions written next to the stars - names, locations, times, dates, and near it sits a neat box of painting supplies. there are plants in a windowsill, carefully cared for, a sitting area with a box of some kind of supplies, set next to folded fabrics and lovely embroidery projects half-finished or almost complete.
there are fresh flowers in a vase by your bedside, and there's even a teapot with a freshly brewed cup of tea already awaiting you at a small sitting area with a lovely red-cushioned couch; on the serving tray beside it are even a few delicious looking scones, still piping hot. next to the table sits a beautiful silver birdcage; inside is a bluebird, sitting on a perch.
it's eveningtime, or so you realize. the moonlight filters into the room through a large window off to one side of the room, arched and gorgeous, and a fire flickers in a marble fireplace, keeping the room warm. the luxite lamp by your bed is lit, flickering softly - in the near distance, you hear the chime of church bells, resplendent and awe-inspiring, ringing ten times in a row, and you realize you fell asleep with a book on your chest. how silly.
when you sit up and swing your legs off the side of the bed, your feet touch a soft, marvelous red rug. for all intents and purposes, this place is stunning, but in all of its austere glory, something about it feels... cold.
you don't know exactly where you are, but it's not particularly unsafe. in fact, you feel like you could have anything you wanted, in this room. you could do just about anything you wanted. what do you want to do? ]
[ it's confusing, to say the least. he's almost started to forget what such opulence is like - the tower has its beauty, but heaven lacks every bit. it almost feels like being home, somehow.
he'd never really liked this sort of elegance. something always feels off about it.
the stars call to him. laurence has always liked to see the sky at night, but first... maybe he'll try the tea? ]
[ rude but fair. taair is resting! he's in bed, bundled up in comfy sweaters, with like three blankets. he looks like absolute ass based on the dark circles under his eyes and the fact that he is still deathly pale, but this comment gets him to smile, even still. it's small, and tired, but still taair. ]
Is that what happened...? I'm afraid I hardly remember... [ rip. ] I'm sorry if I startled you, my friend.
[ taair is in bed in his room! he has been banned here by chrono which is fair. he has a bowl of stew in his lap, and is sitting quietly, looking out of the window! laurence might see there are two doves nesting on the windowsill when he comes in, too.
he turns his head a little bit when he hears footsteps and smiles, gentle. exhausted. ]
