I know of it. It's in all the history books - the Roman Empire was a big deal in the ancient world, and we still get a lot of stories about it and stuff.
But I've never seen it. Chrono or Richie might know more about it.
Then... what a wonderful opportunity this is for the both of us.
[ if taair dies this week he's going to die extremely happy. he says this a little breathlessly with delight, clasping his hands together, practically exuding joy even without emotionshare. after all the horrors of this week, this is like a panacea for his soul. ]
That we can both experience something straight out of a history book - how rare and exciting!
[ this is the best day of his fucking life ] There are ruins everywhere. And the city itself has such a rich history, too! I have been hoping and hoping that perhaps we would get a ruin to explore, and we finally did!
Oh - anything. You can learn so much from a good historical ruin. We can learn about how people lived, their hobbies, their culture - the things that they built and why and how they built them, the things that were preserved... If this is a place in your world, then it's likely it simply must replicate those things.
It's so much more magical to be able to see it yourself. To be able to walk where the great sages walked, and know you are one and the same... [ DREAMY SIGH ] ... I saw many of them in my two weeks away from Lightgloam City, and each one was better than the last.
I don't think you could get all that in just a day, though?
[ amused... taair is so funny. ]
It is really different from just reading about it, though. [ glances at this giant fountain. ] I don't think I'd have ever realized just how big this place can be, otherwise. Coming here never even crossed my mind.
I take it you've already studied up on all the big things like this, huh?
I have studied a bit, yes - though, I don't think I can study up on all of it in a day, either. Though, I do know the story of this fountain! Would you like to hear it? It's not very long.
[ hehe. he reaches into his bag and pulls out a thin little book - a tour guidebook - and flips it open. ]
I read that it was apparently the site of an ancient aqueduct, the one that supposedly supplied the best water to all of Rome. The name comes from "tre" and "vie", which means "three roads" - it was the heart of three very important roads in that city.
The fountain was built thousands of years ago, but in the - ah, this is so far - In the 17th century, the leader of the Church here had the structure commissioned and held a contest to find the best architect in all of the lands to build it.
He ended up unable to complete it though, and another artist picked it up, and then another - it took a total of thirty years to complete. Despite it being commissioned by the Church, the statues on the fountain are designed after a pagan religion that was common in the city long, long ago.
[ which he has very positive feelings about actually but that's besides the point ]
...Oh! Interestingly, there's also a legend about tossing coins in the water.
[ looks at it again like whoa. that seems excessive? although so does this entire concept. ]
It’s the Roman gods, right…? Because of the Roman Empire. I remember a little about them, though I think Iris liked the Greek versions better... [ which is not the point. anyway. ] Weird that they’d use that instead of their own religion.

... This is a place you would know from home?

Probably not... It's one of the oldest civilizations in the world, if I remember right.
[ of course taair already knows the fountain's stories. nerd (affectionate) ]
Sure, let's hear it.
